08:28:11 ‹Marc› Good morning Håvard,
04/12/2007 08:28:26 ‹Håvard› Good morning!
04/12/2007 08:29:11 ‹Marc› The agenda for today is in my view:
04/12/2007 08:29:16 ‹Marc› Action items
04/12/2007 08:29:28 ‹Marc› new date for Estonia (if, indeed, there is a new date)
04/12/2007 08:31:07 ‹Håvard› OK; nothing further from me at this time.
04/12/2007 08:31:26 ‹Marc› so, let's maybe still wait until 9:35, then start
04/12/2007 08:33:43 ‹Håvard› "Logistics": (A) I have a different meeting at 1030 (just down the corridor). (B) Next Tuesday I am in Brussels for a meeting at CEN; I may be able to be a "passive participant" in the chat.
04/12/2007 08:34:21 ‹Marc› ok, actually I think that we won't take more than half an hour
04/12/2007 08:34:45 ‹Marc› actually, we can switch to voice chat if the participation remains as limited as it is
04/12/2007 08:35:06 ‹Håvard› I also just forwarded a message that I got this morning.
04/12/2007 08:36:04 ‹Marc› got it. definitely extremely pertinent
04/12/2007 08:36:18 * Mike Pluke joins cdfg
04/12/2007 08:36:29 ‹Marc› Hello Mike!
04/12/2007 08:36:36 ‹Håvard› Good morning!
04/12/2007 08:36:56 ‹Marc› Håvard: one of us should go
04/12/2007 08:37:03 ‹Mike Pluke› Hello - Late again!
04/12/2007 08:37:29 ‹Håvard› I will send the message in question to Mike as well.
04/12/2007 08:37:35 ‹Mike Pluke› New date for Estonia?
04/12/2007 08:37:44 ‹Marc› ok.
04/12/2007 08:38:14 ‹Marc› To keyboards: "The European Commission stagiaires are organizing a conference in Jan/Feb 2008 within the frame of the Year of Intercultural Dialogue."
04/12/2007 08:38:25 ‹Marc› they have interest in our keyboard activity
04/12/2007 08:39:17 ‹Håvard› We should update Mike on Estonia/March issues
04/12/2007 08:39:50 ‹Mike Pluke› The e-mail looks to be a really positive development!
04/12/2007 08:39:57 ‹Marc› yes, indeed
04/12/2007 08:40:19 ‹Marc› one we must definitively take up
04/12/2007 08:40:29 ‹Marc› unfortunately, no date is set yet
04/12/2007 08:41:09 ‹Håvard› So we need to just keep it in mind for the time being. But we should respond; and very positively.
04/12/2007 08:41:38 ‹Håvard› My first choices for participation would be Marc or Erkki.
04/12/2007 08:42:00 ‹Marc› yes, we should promise that unless something very strange happens one of us will be there and speak
04/12/2007 08:42:15 ‹Håvard› Mike: I have sent a couple of emails just now. Got them?
04/12/2007 08:42:57 ‹Mike Pluke› I have not checked my calendar yet - but it seems obvious to me that the best option for Estonia would be to move to April. A meeting without one of the most key figures would seem to be a VERY bad start for a meeting. Particularly one in a new venue.
04/12/2007 08:43:00 ‹Håvard› OK, so I should probably answer, since the message was sent to me. But I will include both Marc and Erkki as cc
04/12/2007 08:43:29 ‹Mike Pluke› I got all the e-mails - thanks
04/12/2007 08:43:29 ‹Marc› good, this makes sense
04/12/2007 08:43:53 ‹Håvard› I agree on Estonia meeting: April with Marc is definitely best.
04/12/2007 08:44:21 ‹Håvard› My April is completely open for the time being.
04/12/2007 08:45:03 ‹Marc› my suggestion as to Estonia: 10th and 11th of April with the default remaining the March dates if we can't find a common April date
04/12/2007 08:46:47 ‹Håvard› 10-11 fine with me. We should circulate the dates to the entire CDFG for quick response. It the rest of April booked in Marc's calendar?
04/12/2007 08:46:51 ‹Marc› would the 10th and 11th be OK for you?
04/12/2007 08:47:08 ‹Mike Pluke› I think mine is too. A new ETSI Specialist Task Force on Personalization and User Profile Management has started - I am in it. Although the proposal that I submitted this time failed, this offers an opportunity for continued interest in multicultural issues in the ETSI work. Should be good to help extend the period for which I can remain involved and get paid for it.
04/12/2007 08:47:56 ‹Marc› no, I'm pretty open in April after April 6th or so
04/12/2007 08:48:10 ‹Marc› the 10th and 11th are just suggestions
04/12/2007 08:48:38 ‹Håvard› OK, so let us propose 10-11 for CDFG and Taavi. If ok: fixed. Otherwise look again at calendar.
04/12/2007 08:49:48 ‹Marc› good and thanks for the flexibility!
04/12/2007 08:50:46 ‹Marc› Mike: Will you be able to report on the new TF?
04/12/2007 08:51:07 ‹Marc› I'm very happy to hear about this
04/12/2007 08:51:29 ‹Mike Pluke› Yes - at the Estonia meeting you mean?
04/12/2007 08:52:06 ‹Marc› yes
04/12/2007 08:52:15 ‹Mike Pluke› I've just checked forward plans for this new work and April seems to be free - so that's good
04/12/2007 08:53:42 ‹Marc› Great, so the 10th and 11th be it unless Taavi can't make it then
04/12/2007 08:54:14 ‹Mike Pluke› I can certainly report. As you may recall many of our previous ideas related to matching people's language and cultural preferences revolved around storing these preferences in user profiles. This work will look at how information is stored in user profiles. Working out what should be stored will be VERY interested. Especially when it comes to things like language skill and preferences
04/12/2007 08:55:04 ‹Marc› yes, I recall some of this and am very happy to hear that work starts!
04/12/2007 08:55:13 ‹Marc› as to the AIs: should we still attack a few over the next ten minutes, then adjourn?
04/12/2007 08:55:21 ‹Håvard› ok
04/12/2007 08:56:15 ‹Marc› let's start with the software providers (AI 20/05 and 20/06): we need feedback from Erkki on this
04/12/2007 08:56:31 ‹Marc› the pure planning we are doing, i. e. now for the 11th of April
04/12/2007 08:57:18 ‹Marc› as to the membership list (AI 20/04): Håvard, do you have additional feedback on the membership list?
04/12/2007 08:58:25 ‹Håvard› Latest version is 13 Nov, but I think we need to look at a few more.
04/12/2007 08:59:16 ‹Marc› should we take that offline via phone directly after the chat? might be faster and doable in max. 10 minutes
04/12/2007 08:59:47 ‹Håvard› ok
04/12/2007 09:00:15 ‹Marc› so, contact to the translation services: again Erkki
04/12/2007 09:01:25 ‹Marc› but finally one on somebody in the chat :-)
04/12/2007 09:02:10 ‹Marc› :-)
04/12/2007 09:02:13 ‹Marc› 20/01: nomination by BSI. Any feedback yet, Mike?
04/12/2007 09:03:28 ‹Marc› ?
04/12/2007 09:04:27 ‹Mike Pluke› I am afraid I've been very slow. Had difficulties identifying a suitable contact point. Finally decided to e-mail their "e-committees" contact point. I've been procrastinating about creating a suitably persuasive bit of text to convince a culturally arrogant nation that it needs to be involved in things multicultural. So started - but still a to do I am afraid.
04/12/2007 09:05:22 ‹Håvard› So "partly done" is the short version ...
04/12/2007 09:05:55 ‹Mike Pluke› That's short enough!
04/12/2007 09:06:16 ‹Marc› so, let's keep our fingers crossed on this!
04/12/2007 09:06:47 ‹Marc› Actually, I think that's a good point to resume our review of the action list next time, viz. with AIs from the 19th meeting
04/12/2007 09:07:08 ‹Marc› anything else we need to discuss now?
04/12/2007 09:07:28 ‹Mike Pluke› One thing I wanted to get clear in my message to BSI. Is it correct to say that we now normally expect 3 physical meetings a year. Has the concept of electronic meetings been supersed by the weekly chats?
04/12/2007 09:07:42 ‹Håvard› Anything on EOR? Moving (slowly) as expected?
04/12/2007 09:08:04 ‹Marc› actually, two meetings a year, and, indeed, the electronic meetings have been replaced by the weekly chat
04/12/2007 09:08:32 ‹Mike Pluke› Ok - thanks - I clearly can't count :-)
04/12/2007 09:08:52 ‹Marc› as to EOR: to the best of my knowledge the ballot by correspondence has been started and will still take some time to conclude
04/12/2007 09:09:14 ‹Marc› I guess early next year would be a good bet to know for sure if things start
